Overview

The Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 SDK is designed for solution providers, independent software vendors, value-added resellers, and other developers to learn about the new Office SharePoint Server 2007 enterprise application and platform. It features conceptual and "How to" articles, sample code, and programming references.

What's New in this Release for the MOSS SDK

• Installation enhancements: You now have a choice of installation location when you're installing the SDK. Browse to your preferred folder during setup. The default installation path for MOSS is C:\Program Files\2007 Office System Developer Resources\.
  
• Start menu navigation: This release features a new Start menu shortcut for quick access to documentation (compiled HTML Help, or CHM for short) files and the Welcome Guide (ReadMe.htm), which is a landing page with links to all the tools and samples. In Windows Server 2003, click Start, Programs, 2007 Microsoft Office System Developer Resources, Office SharePoint Server 2007 SDK to open: MOSS 2007 Technical Articles and Visual How-Tos, Office Forms Server SDK Documentation, Office SharePoint Server SDK Documentation, Welcome Guide, Windows SharePoint Services SDK Documentation. Browse offline for content published on MSDN out-of-band with the SDK. (Known issue: Several links in the MOSSSDK_TechArticles.chm and WSSSDK_TechArticles.chm do not work in a strictly offline scenario. Also, WMV file screencasts or downloads associated with articles are not packaged in the CHM, to keep the download size manageable. Workaround: Browse to the content on MSDN online; for ease-of-use, the CHM file TOC is the same as the MSDN Library TOC.

Wow! What a fantastic year for SharePoint products and technologies! I Think Community

What an awesome Special Community Night that i attended yesterday. Samer Cihidiac's CN Special title was "I Think Community" which emphesized the need for having a strong contibution in community work. "Community contribution is always leading for success and strong information sharing", he said. Muhannad and Ayman has made an amazing work out there and i believe these two guys has made Jordev live again.

I catched many friends there ... I really enjoyed this awesome CN :) ..

HD View Beta 2 Released - Now with Firefox support

HD View Beta 2 was released last week in conjunction with Siggraph 2007 in San Diego. The big news in this version is the addition of Firefox support. Firefox users wanting to get their "gigapixel on" will now be prompted to install a plugin when viewing sites with HD view collections. (Plugin available here) Another new feature is Auto Tone Adjust. This works like an auto gain; adjusting brightness and contrast ratios in darker (or hazier) areas of a photo to increase clarity.

Annuncing Family.Show 2.0 Release

 

A few months back I recorded a video with Vertigo Software for their original 1.0 release.  And today, Microsoft is announcing an update to this release. This release adds a data grid (one of the common objections to WPF was the data grid functionality), multiple skins, new data visualizations, and a 35-page whitepaper that guides developers through the best practices in this application (in XPS format, of course). 

There have been thousands of downloads of the application, and great feedback from developers so far – check out some of the quotes on the Vertigo website.

A year ago I was investigating in Depth about Microsoft Communication Server 2007 Products and Technologies since this is was one of my responsibilities to ensure its integration with MS Sharepoint Portal 2007.

I was amazed by Microsoft PBX and other Under Research Products (MS Round Table)

After a year from now … an am still using the beta versions of MS UC but I think time has become to start using the Official RTM. I still don't have the date of release yet in my hand but soon we will all have it.

Gmail Going Huge: 9000MB+

Reports we're getting in the mail say that some Gmail users have seen their storage bumped to over 9GB today - 9030MB, to be exact. If not a glitch (and why would it be?), it means Google is playing catch-up with Yahoo, which now provides unlimited storage.

With no other info, we can only assume the accounts are currently being selected at random. As someone who is just about to exceed his Gmail limit, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Microsoft and Open Source

No one would have believed me if I had said five years ago that Microsoft would have a page on its Web site called "Open Source at Microsoft" with the following remarkably sane and reasonable statement on the subject:

" Microsoft is focused on helping customers and partners succeed in a heterogeneous technology world. This starts with participating and contributing to a broad range of choices for developing and deploying software, including open source approaches and applications. From thousands of lines of code and scripts on MSDN and TechNet, to open source applications like IronPython, ASP.NET AJAX, SharePoint Learning Kit, and WiX on CodePlex and SourceForge, Microsoft is continually growing the number of products released with open source access. "

That's right: Microsoft has released not one but several pieces of code as open source. Moreover, it's submitting some of its home-grown licences to the Open Source Initiative for approval. So what is going on here?

In part, I think that Microsoft's own analysis of its motives is true: we do live in a heterogeneous world of technology, and the creation of Microsoft's open source pages and projects reflects a long-overdue reflection of this fact. It is also testimony to the continuing success of free software. Initially Microsoft obviously hoped it would prove a fashion that would eventually fade way, but as its own FAQ states:

"Open source is neither an industry fad, nor a magic bullet."

Another major factor is that Microsoft is clearly keen to try out new development methodologies in the light of the growing failure of its traditional approaches to deliver products anywhere near to their original launch dates (Vista, anyone?). In order to do that, it needs to drop the rather crass Manichean view of "closed source good, open source bad", for something a little more nuanced.

Now, as the opening statement on the Open Source page states, the official line is that there are "a broad range of choices for developing and deploying software, including open source approaches and applications". This obviously allows Microsoft itself to adopt open source methodologies without appearing hypocritical and ridiculous.

But I think there is another aspect to Microsoft's latest moves that is more worrying. The clue is to be found in the company's submission of its licences to the OSI for approval. Again, this might seem a tremendous victory for the free software world, since it sees Microsoft apparently bending its knee before an open source institution. But its action needs to be seen in the wider context of a new-found enthusiasm for open standards.

It looks increasingly likely that Microsoft's OOXML file format will become an ISO standard alongside the OpenDocument Format. As others are tracking in detail, the way in which this is happening is unsatisfactory, to say the least. The end-result will be two directly competing standards in the area of office file formats. This in itself is unhelpful, since the whole idea of standardisation is have one standard, not lots of them. But it's worse than that. Microsoft's OOXML is nominally open, as standards should be, but in practice its 6000+ pages of documentation mean that nobody except Microsoft will be implementing this standard, which is largely a re-definition of a closed standard as open, without any change of substance.

This, I think, goes to the heart of Microsoft's open source strategy. As well as adopting those aspects of an alternative development model that it finds useful, Microsoft is aiming to blunt the undeniable power of openness by hollowing it out. If OOXML is an open standard, and some of its own software licences become OSI-approved, Microsoft will be able to claim that it, too, is an open standard, open source company. For many busy managers, subject to all kinds of demands – including increasing pressure to "go open source" - the difference between Microsoft's open source and real open source won't matter, in the same way that the difference between Microsoft's open file formats and those of the OpenDocument Format won't really matter. In terms of keeping people happy, what matters for many is the label – the appearance of going open – and Microsoft's moves aim to provide just that.

In many ways this new approach is exactly the reverse of that espoused in the famous first Halloween Document. There, the idea was to "de-commoditise" open protocols by adding proprietary elements. Today, the technique is to pseudo-commoditise proprietary standards by getting them defined as open.

Despite this essentially hostile intent, I believe (and have done for a while) that the power of open source will eventually win out over all of Microsoft's remaining fears and concerns, and that the company will embrace real open source fully for all of its products (at least where it is able to do so for legal reasons). It's just a question of time.

A New Chapter of Challenge has Begun …

A new channel of challenge in my life has begun. I left Generic Corp. After 9 Months of the hard working, wither people has believe it or not, we made Enterprise something in short time of period.

I've been a part of Generic and a founder member for the last 9 months; we were working hard to build a strong reputation for the corporate within Jordan Market. I believe that some unexpected mistakes have created discordant visions about the value of this company and its core staff. At the moment, Generic is growing in the market faster than before utilizing its unique services in building a strong line-of-business and I wish all the luck for the all the friends there. Are you confused about the reason of resigning? It's not personal as much as sometimes withers you like it or not you should take advantage of it.

Where am I? Am slowing down more than ever in chosen my upcoming family, I would love stabilizing with high achievement rather than challenge with high risk management. Resignation

I'm moving to somewhere else ... yeah another new family ..


Yes i tendered my resignation today and am leaving ASPIRE office at Thursday night. Through my experience I knew the major IT companies in Jordan but I didn't feel and notice myself a company in its Social Services and Flexibility like ASPIRE Services. During the last two weeks i was living in a whole miss thinking deeply about my vision at GENERIC SOLUTIONS and compare it with ASPIRE Services. I liked everyone here; i liked Waref, Kaushal, Osamah, Imad and the others. All were kind to me and the spirit of achieving is now shining all over. The question that always been asked, is it a financial issue ?? .. The Only answer I have "I adore my challenge that leads me by God success to a better Financial state". I believe that Waref has made all the best to keep me on board but i couldn't ethicly even let him knowthat i gave my word a month ago before he even open my vision to all his promised applicable Opportunities at ASPIRE.

ASPIRE has been suffering from my late attendance.. Actually since whole month till now and am not often sleeping more than 5 hours a day. i remember that i didn't appeal any full day leave not in Friday nor Saturday since the moment i met Nabel Kharman.

I prayed and asked the lord his blessing on my upcoming future. Wishing for ASPIRE all the best from the bottom of my heart. Am going to pass frequently to the campus and provide my help.

Aspire has aquired me as Software Engineer. After my first month i presented them at ASPIRE Get Ready Day as a Technology Specialist. I had successfully built the whole internal process and been the MOSS Team Guide. Although during my three months i presented them at Jordan ICT Forum for two days.

Microsoft Announced 2007 Microsoft Office Completion

Microsoft Corp. has announced the completion of the 2007 Microsoft Office system code and confirmed its release to manufacturing (RTM). The company says this gold code milestone concludes the largest Microsoft Office beta program to date, with more than 3.5 million people downloading the second beta of the office suite. Microsoft comments on the unprecedented quantity of feedback from beta testers and customers helping the Office development team validating product quality and optimizing performance. Also confirmed is 30 November 2006 as the worldwide business availability of the 2007 Office system, Windows Vista operating system and Exchange Server 2007. It is expected on that day Microsoft executives will participate in events around the globe, including an event with Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer in New York. General availability of the products will follow in early 2007, but can be as early as 7 December for Technet and MSDN subscribers.

The Microsoft Office Online tool has been redesigned to let people learn about what’s new in the 2007 Microsoft Office system. People can easily determine which products are best for their needs and find related productivity resources — whether it is assistance from one of the nearly 50,000 new help articles, a how-to refresher through one of the 35 new demos, online training through any of the 24 new courses, downloading one of the more than 400 new templates, or accessing other product downloads and tools. Starting 1st December 2006 in the U.S. and Canada, and coming soon after to an additional 13 international markets, Microsoft will make available free, downloadable product trials via Office Online.

Included in this release is also the SMS Link for Office Outlook 2007, a new service that allows Outlook 2007 users to connect with friends’, families’ and colleagues’ mobile phones by using SMS text messaging. It allows people to send and receive e-mail, contacts, appointments and tasks as text messages to mobile phones.

Most desktop application products in the 2007 Office system will be comprehensively localized in 38 languages, and customers will be able to purchase individual, single-language add-on packs enabling applications and suites to instantly become bilingual. The packs add a secondary localized user interface, help files, dictionary and thesaurus.

Windows Vista RTM !!!

Microsoft has announced the Windows Vista release to manufacturing (RTM) through the Windows Vista Blog. This important milestone signifies the end of development of Windows Vista, a significant effort by the software giant.

The company recognises the participation of an enthusiast community, who have played a key role in supporting the development of the new operating system through beta testing and feedback.With RTM Microsoft indicates to the market that Windows Vista is done and will be handed off to industry partners, including PC makers, ISVs and IHVs.

They in turn will continue to ramp-up in earnest now that the target is locked, for example, by refining hardware drivers, in order to complete the cycle and make Windows Vista available via retail channels on 30 January 2007.

On that date Windows Vista and the 2007 Microsoft Office system will be available to customers around the world.Windows Vista will be available within 7 days to MSDN and Technet subscribers for download and use for development and review purposes.

Microsoft Announces Vista Prices

Microsoft has announced pricing for its Vista operating system, the successor to Windows XP which is set to be rolled out to business customers at the end of this month. The Home Premium Edition will cost $239 with a suggested upgrade price of $159; Home Basic will cost $199 with upgrades likely to cost $100; while Vista Ultimate will retail for $399 with upgrades likely to come in at $259. Businesses looking to make the switch from XP to Vista will need to shell out $199 for an upgrade, or around $299 for a retail version.The only version of Vista not to have its price set is the top-end Enterprise Edition. A statement on the Microsoft website states that "the Windows Vista Enterprise edition is only available to Microsoft Volume License customers; it is not available for retail purchase".Consumers will have to wait until the new year to get their hands on the Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate versions of the snazzy-looking new OS, while businesses that are especially keen on a Vista PC should be able to get hold of one some weeks earlier.As a sop to those looking to buy a new PC, Microsoft is running an upgrade voucher scheme so that anyone buying a new XP system will be able to move over to Vista as soon as it launches. The upgrades will be redeemable via the manufacturer in the case of the most established brands while Microsoft is "working to provide guidance to smaller system builders" – meaning that even if you buy from a small PC manufacturer, you won’t miss out on the Vista goodness.

Zune is a brand from Microsoft that incorporates a line of portable media players, software that will drive the devices, and an online service for acquiring and sharing media. It was previously thought that Zune was one of Microsoft's media players under "Project Argo". Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007's Search feature can support up to 50 million documents in a single index

As Microsoft approach RTM milestone for SharePoint Server 2007, I am extremely pleased to announce that the out of the box maximum recommended document limit for search in SharePoint Server 2007 is 50 million documents in a single index limited by hardware. SharePoint Server can support multiple indexes, so deployments above 50 million documents are possible on a custom solution basis. If you have a requirement for searching more than 50 million documents, please contact your Microsoft representative.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search (Enterprise Edition) also has an out of the box maximum recommended document limit of 50 million documents in a single index. There is no technically enforced document limit, but this product is limited to having only one index.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search (Standard Edition) has a limit of 500,000 documents and is also limited to having only one index.

Answers to some FAQs:

Q: What is a “document” in terms of Search?
A: A document can be anything from a Word or PowerPoint file, to a web page, an individual SharePoint list item, one people entry, or an SAP customer record.

Q: Does a very large document count as more than one item?
A: No. For example, a 10KB Word file and a 10MB Word file are each considered one document.

Q: What is considered to be an “average document size”?
A: This really depends on the content sources and file types that make up a corpus – so “average document size” can be very different for different customer environments. With Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, we now index individual list items (which was not the case with WSS 2.0). As a result, in environments where WSS 3.0 lists are used heavily, the large number of such small “documents” can reduce the average document size to as low as 10KB. Customers making limited use of WSS 3.0 lists will most likely see a larger average document size based on the overall composition of their corpus.

Q: What is the maximum number of indexes supported by SharePoint Server 2007?
A: SharePoint Server 2007 supports a maximum of 20 indexes. SharePoint Server 2007 for Search (Enterprise Edition and Standard Edition) supports only one index.

Q: What are my options if I purchase SharePoint Server 2007 for Search (Standard Edition) and my needs grow?
A: If your search needs exceed the 500,000 document limit of SharePoint Server 2007 for Search you can upgrade to SharePoint Server 2007 for Search (Enterprise Edition) which has no technically enforced document limit. Survey shows ASP.NET, IIS lead Fortune 1000

A recent survey of the Fortune 1000 websites by Port80 Software shows that Microsoft's Internet Information Services (IIS) usage has doubled over the last year as it is being used by 54.9 percent of companies. In contrast, Apache usage has dropped to 23.3 percent placing it 4 percentage points lower than IIS6 alone. While the results could very well be accurate, it should be noted that Port80 Software has a bias toward Microsoft as it is one of their partners, not to mention the company specializes in developing tools and solutions for IIS.
Port80 also performed a similar survey that analyzes Fortune 1000 use of application servers and scripting platforms. Like the web server survey, Microsoft again comes out on top with its ASP.NET platform being run by 48.4 percent of the companies. Other notables in the survey include Java at 12.7 percent, PHP at 5.4 percent, and ColdFusion at 3.1 percent. In order to find these results, Port80 analyzed HTTP headers from each company's site.

Vista RC2 Out, Last Build Before RTM

As expected, Microsoft on Friday issued the second release candidate of Windows Vista - the last public build before the next-generation operating system is released to manufacturing. As with the interim build before it, RC2 will be available to a limited number of CPP participants, beta testers, as well as TechNet and MSDN subscribers.
"Since the release of Windows Vista RC1, Microsoft has continued to receive excellent feedback that is helping to improve the overall quality and performance of the product," a company spokesperson told BetaNews. "RC2 reflects that feedback and includes important improvements in performance, application compatibility and fit and finish work. Here Comes Windows Vista RC2

Microsoft will ship the final prerelease version of Windows Vista on Friday and, unexpectedly, will name the new version Release Candidate 2 (RC2). (Microsoft had stated earlier that it wouldn't ship an RC2 milestone release of Vista.) But don't let the name fool you. RC2 is really just a standard interim build of Vista, but unlike RC1, it won't be distributed to millions of users.
The RC2 build is 5743, and Microsoft is currently testing it internally. As with the previous interim build, 5728, RC2 will go to beta testers, Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) and TechNet subscribers, and a random, limited number of Consumer Preview Program (CPP) members.
Although Microsoft wouldn't confirm the specifics of the release, the company did corroborate that it's planning an upcoming interim Vista build. "As we have previously discussed, Microsoft does plan to deliver more interim builds of Windows Vista before releasing the final product," a Microsoft spokesperson told me. "The exact name of the build and the date of its release have not been announced."
This is the last build Microsoft will be making available to the public prior to release to manufacturing (RTM). The RTM--which had been expected to be "on or before October 25"--has been adjusted slightly. Now, the Vista launch window begins October 18, when Microsoft will begin testing the final planned build for RTM. But Microsoft doesn't expect to finalize the product until sometime between October 25 and November 8.
Internal documentation notes that each daily delay after October 25 comes at a price, however: For each day past October 25, Microsoft will ship one less localized, language-specific version of Vista for the January launch. However, the company is prepared to do that to ensure that Vista's quality is high.
The internal documentation also notes that Vista still has more than 1400 bugs. Microsoft's internal processes require this bug count to drop to 500 or fewer before the product can go into escrow for RTM. By comparison, Vista had more than 2470 bugs on September 22.
In related news, Microsoft will be changing the product keys it uses for Vista after the product hits the RTM escrow phase. Consequently, users won't be able to use prerelease Vista product keys to install the RTM version. My understanding is that this change won't affect the RC2 release.

I said it once. It's a cross language environment but people were laughing on me that time. Now it became implemented and third party developed release for it. While The Platform Kernel support CLR then move your .NET everywhere. It might lose some UI and API functionality but still effective.

Here at ASPIRE we use NANT to build our .NET Applications as the client requires. but NANT still need .NET Framework to be installed. Mono is simulating .NET compiler using its MCS. Am keeping asking my self why Microsoft till now wont go that way even it's doable ??!!

Google has created a search site without any Google branding to test new features. The site, SearchMash, has a simple blue and white interface with a search bar and an option to click on "popular searches." Once keywords are entered, the results page features links to results running down the left side of the page and the top three image results on the right side.
SearchMash also lets you click on a result and drag and drop it to change the order. Also, when a link is clicked on, the user is offered the option of opening the listings in the current window or a new window, seeing more pages from the Web site or finding similar pages. Additional results are added to the bottom of the original results page by clicking on a "more web pages" link.
With SearchMash, Google "plans to test user interface ideas without Google's brand somehow skewing the tests," Danny Sullivan, editor of Search Engine Watch.com wrote in a blog posting on Monday. "It's pretty slick."

Another interesting thing you can do is to talk to a MSN Messenger user and even create a voice conference with users from Google Talk and MSN Messenger (Windows Live Messenger).You don't need to install a software, you just have to add a contact (service@gtalk2voip.com) and use it as a gateway.The creator of this service seems to have a lot of interesting ideas, but I hope it won't take too long before Google starts to offer similar features.

Micorosft has released new IE7 Final Beta

After letting Internet Explorer 6 go for years without any significant updates, Microsoft has been trying to make up for lost time by releasing a series of previews and betas for IE 7. The first preview was released to the public in January, and Beta 2 followed on its heels in April. Now, Microsoft has unveiled a third and possibly final beta of its new web browser.
There are no significant changes to the rendering engine, as Microsoft promised web developers in March that the layout engine was "feature complete" and that they could start testing their sites with the new browser. However, the new beta does offer many bug fixes, performance enhancements and minor user interface tweaks.

As with Beta 2, the new version requires Windows XP with SP2 installed. Versions are also available for Windows XP Pro x86-64, and for both x86 and Itanium versions of Windows Server 2003. Microsoft recommends uninstalling Beta 2 or earlier if installed, although the release can be installed on top of Beta 2 if you feel like living dangerously. Installing IE 7 involves running Windows Genuine Advantage to check to see if you are running a "valid" copy of Windows twice: once before you download the installer, and a second time after the installation routine begins. While this may please people who really love to feel validated, it seems a tad overkill for installing a beta version of a free browser.

Improvements over Beta 2 are mostly bug fixes, although some welcome changes have been added to the user interface. Like most other tabbed browsers, Beta 3 now allows you to change the order of the tabs by dragging and dropping them into a new place. RSS feeds can now be updated all at once instead of one feed at a time, and there are more options for marking all feeds as read. For those people who missed their e-mail button on the main toolbar, the new beta allows it to be put back in. The crazy arrangement with the menu bar sandwiched in between the address bar and the toolbar is still there by default, and although it is possible to unlock these toolbars and drag them to more sensible places, you still can't place the menu bar above the address bar, where most everone in the universe would expect it to be.

Microsoft continues to promote their new web site devoted to showcasing third-party plugins for IE 7, no doubt to compete with the many Firefox plugins available. Internet Explorer 7 does a good job of catching up to other browsers on the market, although Opera and Firefox users may not see anything new here that is compelling enough to get them to switch. However, IT managers will no doubt welcome the extra security features, including antiphishing tools that warn users when they are visiting spoofed sites.

Internet Explorer 7 is scheduled for a final release near the end of 2006, and although this is the last scheduled "beta," there may be additional Release Candidate previews before that time.

Hi. Wow there has been a lot of, let’s say, interest in the posting Friday. I knew there would be interest, and I knew that the news that we would not ship WinFS as a separate thing would make news, but didn’t expect quite the thread lengths we are seeing! Whew.
There are obviously a lot of questions on people’s minds. So I post again today trying to answer some of them. To those who think I am not a real person but rather a name in front of PR machinery – that’s just not true. I am flesh and blood – with a job, a team, and a passion for what we have been pursuing in WinFS. And even a life outside of Microsoft Building 35 with a wife, kids and other interests. Certainly seems like I might have been too careful in wording last week – was not my intention to offend bloggers everywhere, really.
OK, here are the questions/answers.
Is WinFS dead?Yes and No. Yes, we are not going to ship WinFS as a separate, monolithic software component. But the answer is also No - the vision remains alive and we are moving the technology forward. A lot of the technology really was database stuff – and we’re putting that into SQL and ADO. But some of the technology, especially the end user value points, are not ready, and we’re going to continue to work on that in incubation. Some or all of these technologies may be used by other Microsoft products going forward.
Does your plan for WinFS have any impact on Windows Vista? There is no impact on Windows Vista. We announced back in August 2004 that WinFS would not be in Windows Vista.
Will the "Relational Filesystem" ever be in Windows?Hey – we are very busy finishing Vista, and just aren’t ready to talk about what comes next. The vision for a richer storage in Windows is very much alive. With the new tools for searching and organizing information in Windows Vista, we are taking a good step towards that vision.
Why are parts of WinFS going into SQL Server?We have a vision around data that guides us we call the "Data Platform Vision". We’ve been talking with customers about this for some time, and we have heard consistent positive feedback. It was clear that the integrated storage and automation features of WinFS will help SQL Server deliver on the "Beyond Relational" and "Continuous Availability and Automation" promises of that vision. We decided to focus resources on delivering these technologies to our customers as part of the Data Platform Vision in the near term.
What's the upside to developers?We believe that including some of the WinFS work in SQL will broaden which developers will benefit from that database, and further we believe the ADO.NET for Orcas innovations will make using a database a lot easier and more productive for developers. Our Data Platform Vision talks about Your Data, Any Place, Any Time. It’s a compelling vision, and we will continue to invest in the desktop versions of SQL (SQL Express and now SQL Everywhere) as well as the Server.
What is a ship vehicle? Why does it matter that WinFS is not a "separate ship vehicle"?A ship vehicle is the method in which we bring a technology to market. This could be a separate product release, a service pack to an existing product, or an integrated technology in a larger product platform. We announced the removal of WinFS from Longhorn two years ago, and talked about WinFS being a separate ship vehicle. But we are no longer are planning to release a separate WinFS delivery vehicle.
Was WinFS "killed" because of its design?No. In fact, the Beta was coming together really well. People have speculated on "redesigns." The original goals of WinFS have never changed, but the technology we are building isn’t easy – so we did take a number of internal design changes and re-writes. And I am not going to apologize for that. Getting the relational engine to behave and perform like the Windows filesystem isn’t a matter of a few lines of code – it has to be done very carefully and architected right. The bars on performance, compatibility, etc. are all super high.
Why did Microsoft announce this now after talking about WinFS at TechEd so recently?When we were at TechEd, we had not made the decision. Sure, it was under discussion, but we did not have all the information we needed and we had not made the call yet. We did share the news as soon as we had the final word. We could have waited longer to disclose the information and made the change in plans less of a contrast, but we chose to notify people as soon as we could. This is why we used the blog and didn’t fire-up the big MS PR machinery – that takes time.

HAYAT SYSTEM

My Hayat Project were aim to provide tracking methodology for the physicians to predict when their patients will be at risk state depends on their Health Data Records. In Addition using built in Analysis Services in SQL Server 2005 I've built a tracking system that alarm the patient to take care of his/her health because the system predicting that he/she might fall in one of the X health emergency situations.
My friend Besher (Health Engineer) and I designed a health check device attached with the PDA that check the human Heart Rate and Body Temperature send them to the Hayat Warehouse using secure web services and Using Health Discovery Engine we track the Patients Health Status to ensure that he/she is not at risk level and if (Might God not execuse) they at risk we send an alarm message to their mobile devices using Hayat Web Services neither.
I've used many smart client features and even I used DMX (Data Mining Extension) in order to show my results and even to process my Mining Structure Online which Help the Health Research Committee to track diseases and causes of diseases easily with a customizable search engine that allows the physicians to track their patients health depends on many interesting parameters such as (Age, Gender, Nature Temp, Date, Weight, Height and more).
I've Participated with the Imagine Cup Worl Wide Contest in this project but seems talking about its features didn't give me the enough time to display most of the amazing real time (implemented) features even they were all exist but JUDGE COMMITTE SAID "TIME IS OVER". Unfortunately HAYAT won the second place and P.S.U.T automation system suddenly and unexpectedly won the first place over Jordan. anyways Congratulations for the participants and Thanks God my goal were not only the prize but to proof that using BI over Health Records we can predict and discover what it's much interesting than waiting diseases to spread and appear. This is might solve the most terrible world diseases depends on patients health data. This is not the end am still working and enhancing a lot of features in the system and hopefully one day am going to serve the humanity by applying this system on real time data.

Again the only taste of win for my projects is when i watch my clients start use them and ask me for more extends. I achieved weither this documented or not, i achieved somethings this my Honor to talk about here.

It's Been A Long Time

I Missed my blog and am back again to type over here again .. I walk through many interesting events like Imagine Cup 2006, Graduation, E-Village Project, New Love Story ;) and the most interesting event for the last moment is that am preparing to have my MVP with the end of this year..

Am gonna type again i have alot to store even alot to remmeber :p .. i felt in love again but it's not obvious if i do like her more than she likes me or not or may be we both guess that we do ..

My Imagin Cup was full of sadness since i gain the second place even alot who attended the presentations believe that Hayat System deserve the First Place with no competitor .. am Gonna talk about Hayat more and More soon .. am now feel sleepy i have to check Jordev cause i heard my friend Bander got the MVP so wow, he is one year graduated but sure for his great efforts he deserve it :S

Graduation Project

It's been along time i didn't post anything to my blog.. Yesterday at 2:00 p.m. i've passed the graduation project presentaion with good impression after three days of sleepless :( .. Hopefully i brought an impressive idea related with AI field and Health sector but am my ambtion says this is not the end .. My Project Codename cold Hayat and am gonna participate within the Imagine Cup with the same codename till the release of the product in the future :) .. mm my presentation were tuff and not that good organsied since i designed and prepared just few hours before the committe presentation but Thanks God it impressed Dr. Ayman Tamimi who complain in alot of major field in the my communication skills which will help me in the future as a technology speciliast enshallah :) ..
